Brown. Whiskey Jack Yarns

Today's free book is Whiskey Jack Yarns; short tales of the old time lumber raftsmen of the Wisconsin river and their mythical hero by Charles E Brown (1940). For the table of contents, check at the bottom of this post below the image.

There was a Native American (Algonquin) trickster-hero named Wisakedjak, and over time that name became mis-interpreted as "Whiskey Jack" as he became an American tall-tale hero, but more fakelore than fakelore. Find out more at Wikipedia: Fakelore.

The book is available at Hathi Trust (I have not checked for other online sources).
